Australia's aviation market has gone from strength to strength in the past financial year with Qantas and Virgin Australia adding a number of outstanding new features to their domestic fleets.

One constant from both carriers in 2015/16 has been their proactive efforts to bolster the passenger experience. With the end of the domestic capacity war largely stabilising airfares, Qantas and Virgin Australia's focus on improving the traveller experience has given business travellers access to one of the highest quality domestic aviation networks in the world.

Some of Virgin Australia's biggest unveilings in the past 12 months centred on complimentary upgrades to its economy class offering including luggage allowances, snacks and in-flight entertainment. The carrier also launched its new terminal at Perth airport and introduced the largest lie-flat bed available in domestic business anywhere in the world.

Qantas' domestic network benefitted from the carrier's $2 billion transformation program including upgraded lounge facilities in Perth and Darwin and various new features in in-flight entertainment. The carrier also stepped up its development of high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi and plans to launch the new service on its domestic network in 2017.
