Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia rated highly by Australian consumers

Research agency AMR has released the results of its 2014 Corporate Reputation Index, revealing Australians rate Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia above other airlines when it comes to corporate image.

The index focuses on 60 of the leading companies operating in Australia, and is compiled with data collected directly from consumers. As well as gathering information on each company's reputation, the index also measures how Australians feel about each organisation's products and services, innovation, workplace, citizenship, governance, leadership and performance. Participants in the survey are aged between 18 and 64.

JB Hi-Fi topped this year's index, followed by Australia Post, Mazda Australia, Toyota Motor Corporation and Nestle Australia. The Good Guys came in at the sixth spot, and Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia were ranked seventh and eighth, respectively.

The rest of the top 10 included ALDI Australia and Hewlett-Packard. Qantas Airways was ranked at number 26, after Medibank Private and ahead of BHP Billiton. The company has seen a steep decline in its ranking from last year's index, where it was in 13th place overall.

The results show the average Australian consumer thinks highly of Air New Zealand and Virgin Australia, not just for their images but their leisure and corporate travel offerings as well.

Air New Zealand welcomed the news that they were the only Kiwi company to be featured in the top 10 list.

"It's great to know that Australian consumers regard Air New Zealand so highly and this is a reflection of the hard work of our people in a highly competitive market," said Air New Zealand Chief Executive Christopher Luxon.
