Etihad Airways announces cabin upgrades

28 Aug 2014

Australian business travel is set to be even more comfortable on Etihad Airways, as the airline has announced an all-new lineup of service offerings on board its redefined cabin classes.

The Residence by Etihad is one of the biggest changes ahead for the airline's Airbus A380 aircraft. This upper-deck cabin will have capacity for up to two passengers at a time and features a living room, separate double bedroom and en-suite shower room for traveller convenience.

The Residence is also staffed by a butler who will be on hand to meet any passenger requests.

The A380 aircraft will also have First Apartments. These fully private suites have a separate reclining lounge seat with a full-length bed, chilled mini-bar, personal vanity unit and wardrobe.

The entire upper deck section on the A380 will be allocated solely for the premium cabins and full mobile and Wi-Fi services will be available.

The airline is also launching its Boeing B787 Dreamliner fleet, which will have an updated First Suite.

First Suite gives travellers a personal wardrobe, chilled mini-bar, access to Etihad Wi-Fly connectivity, all-natural mattresses and bed linen.

Both the A380 and the B787 will have a Business Studio and Economy Smart Seats and Panasonic eX3 entertainment systems with video touch screen handsets and noise cancelling headsets.

"These new living spaces will raise in-flight product and service standards to their highest level yet in commercial aviation and alter air travellers' expectations of inflight comfort and luxury forever," Etihad Airways President and Chief Executive Officer James Hogan said.
