Emirates boosts LAX and Amsterdam
Emirates will increase capacity on its Dubai-Amsterdam route with the introduction of a second A380 service from 1 February. The carrier will also double capacity on its Dubai-Los Angeles route with a second daily A380 service from 1 July. Capacity on its Dubai-Dallas/Fort Worth route is being downgraded with the current A380 being substituted for a B777-300ER from 1 February.
Sofitel opens new property in Kunming
AccorHotels has opened its first property in Kunming, China. The 440-room Sofitel Kunming offers dining venues and bars, fitness centre, pool and a range of meeting and event spaces for up to 800 guests.
New Mantra Sydney Airport
The Mantra Group has been selected to manage a new hotel located within walking distance of Sydney Airport’s T2 and T3 domestic terminals. Construction on the 136-room property is scheduled to begin in April this year.
SQ premium economy Melbourne bound
Singapore Airlines will introduce a premium economy class cabin on services to Melbourne. The carrier will operate an A380 three times a week on the from 24 June to 3 September as part of a seasonal capacity increase.
New airport terminal for Shanghai
Construction has started on the next phase of Shanghai Pudong Airport’s expansion. The new satellite terminal includes two linked halls and shared space for departures, arrivals and transfers. The expansion project is due for completion in 2019.
Etihad Dreamliner Perth-bound
Etihad Airways is increasing capacity on its Abu Dhabi-Perth route. The carrier will replace the current A330 servicing the route with a larger B787 Dreamliner from 1 June 2015.
New Hilton for Amsterdam Airport
Hilton Worldwide has opened a new property at Amsterdam Airport. The 433-room Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is linked to the airport terminal via a covered walkway and features a restaurant, bar, 24-hour fitness centre, spa and a range of conference, meeting and event spaces catering for up to 640 guests.
Qantas boosts Singapore and HK routes
Qantas is increasing the frequency of its Melbourne-Singapore route to 10 per week with a second daily service operating on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 29 April. The carrier is also upgrading three of its weekly Melbourne-Hong Kong services from an A330 to a B747 from April.
