Qantas streamlines domestic fare structure

Qantas will change its domestic fare structure next month, dropping the number of fare types from four to three. The majority of Fully Flexible and Flexi Saver fare classes will merge into a newly named Flex family, with Flexi Saver L and V class fares moving to Red eDeals. SME travellers who need flexibility to make flight alterations are likely to be the main beneficiary of the changes. The restructure applies for tickets issued or reissued on or after 18 February.

Hilton on the Park rebranded 

The Hilton on the Park in Melbourne has been rebranded as the Pullman Melbourne on the Park. Management of the property passed to Accor on 31 December 2014.

Regional Express to take over Skytrans routes 

Regional Express has applied for approval to take over routes previously operated by Skytrans. The carrier now hopes to commence services to the area by mid-March.

Emirates A380s Manchester-bound 

Emirates will double the frequency of its daily A380 service on its Dubai-Manchester route. The second A380 will replace the B777 currently used on the carrier’s EK019/020 services. The move means half the airline’s 16 daily services to the UK will operate on superjumbos from next month.

Accor dual-rebrand 

Accor has unveiled its first Ibis Styles property in Adelaide. The Mercure Grosvenor Hotel Adelaide will house 64 three-star Ibis Styles rooms in the southern end of its central Adelaide hotel. Accor aims to provide more choice and greater affordability by offering two accommodation options under one roof.

United regional gets wi-fi 

In-flight wi-fi is being rolled out across United Airlines’ regional fleet. Installation is scheduled for completion by mid-year and the carrier is also adding streaming entertainment to personal iOS and Android devices.

MEL goes self-service

28 new self service kiosks and 12 automated bag drop facilities have been installed in Melbourne Airport's international terminal. Trials of the system are underway with full deployment expected in early 2015.

Free wi-fi at TFE hotels.

Adina, Medina, Vibe, Rendezvous and Travelodge properties throughout Australia and New Zealand will offer free wi-fi from 1 January 2015. Guests will receive up to 100MB of free data per 24 hours and can access this data from up to four devices per room.
