Velocity Gold members lose LAX lounge access

Virgin Australia has announced Velocity Gold frequent flyers will no longer be able to access the Star Alliance Lounge at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

The restriction follows Star Alliance's announcement in late 2016 advising of changes to its international lounge policy.

The restriction applies to Velocity Gold frequent flyers travelling in Economy and Premium Economy on Virgin Australia operated flights from Los Angeles to Australia.

Due to capacity issues Etihad's First and Business Class Lounge is also no longer available for entry.

Velocity Gold Frequent Flyers will be credited 10,000 Velocity Points in compensation due to changes in membership benefits.

Passengers will also be provided with a food and beverage voucher for $US40 or $US80 for Velocity Gold passengers travelling with a guest.  Vouchers can be used at Luckyfish, Drink LA and 3 Forks on the mezzanine level of Tom Bradley International Airport.

The current lounge offering for guests travelling in The Business and Velocity Platinum Frequent Flyers travelling in Economy and Premium Economy remain unchanged and will maintain access to the Etihad Airways First & Business Class Lounge in the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
