Credo is a market leader in delivering unique project management solutions including store fit outs and merchandising for Coles, Woolworths, Liquorland and Bunnings. The company primarily engages in high volume domestic travel, often to remote and regional areas. Corporate Traveller partnered with Credo in 2012 and manages bookings, airfare and accommodation sourcing, online booking administration, supplier negotiations and travel reporting for the company.
Credo’s travel challenges
Credo’s travel program often required large group bookings at short notice. The difficulty of managing high volume bookings was exacerbated by unstructured processes that relied on multiple internal travel bookers and phone and email requests. Credo’s accommodation requirements also posed a challenge. The company needed up to 6,000 room nights per annum, many of which would be required in remote and regional areas. The lack of a structured hotel program increased the overall cost and difficulty of sourcing appropriate accommodation at short notice.
An expert solution
Corporate Traveller identified the booking process as the most crucial element to successfully restructuring Credo’s travel program. After consulting with Credo’s leadership team, both parties decided to switch to an integrated online booking solution to make the process more efficient. Implementing Corporate Traveller's EXPERT online booking tool would effectively streamline the booking experience and increase reporting accuracy.
Corporate Traveller presented a proposal including new spending strategies for airfares, car hire and accommodation as well as new process for calculating ROI. This included the implementation of a private fare deal with Virgin Australia and a renegotiation of its car hire contract with Budget. Corporate Traveller also provided a range of travel guidelines to increase efficiency and compliance for Credo’s internal travel policy.
To stabilise Credo’s accommodation spending, Corporate Traveller implemented a structured hotel program. The team proposed a Best Available Rate purchasing strategy that combined accommodation sourcing from Expedia, Corporate Traveller's SmartSTAY program and Flight Centre's global network.

The combination of online booking tool implementation and a small team of internal travel bookers has enabled Credo to capture more than 90% of its bookings online. The switch to the tool and increased policy compliance delivered more than $12,000 YTD in savings. The consolidation of airfare spending to Virgin Australia and car hire spending to Budget enabled Credo to save more than $37,000 YTD. Using Credo’s existing accommodation discounts and specific group rates for regional and remote motels enabled the company to save more than $160,000 YTD. Credo’s restructured travel program also introduced time savings internally and boosted the company's ability to effectively report on its travel expenditure.
